Banana-Cherry Porridge

This one is a porridge for all the sweet-tooths out there who still want to start the day with a healthy and filling breakfast.

  1. Soak the oats in hot water
  2. Make a sweet wet mixture with mashed bananas, plant milk and instant tea powder
  3. Cook the porridge in the mixture
  4. Add banana slices, cherries and dark chocolate as a topping

Notes & Substitutes

  • I recommend using a fruit-flavoured, sweet instant tea powder, but if you don’t have any, substitute it for any sweetener of choice.
  • Instead of cherries, you can use any other type of berries
  • Add some nut-butter instead of dark chocolate

Banana Cherry Porridge

This is a sweet porridge featuring bananas and cherries. My absolute go-to breakfast to feel energized.

Zutaten
  

  • 75 g rolled oats
  • 150 ml hot water
  • 100-200 ml plant milk *
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 teaspoons sweet instant tea powder *
  • 100 g cherries
  • 10 g dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 scoop protein powder + plant milk optional

Method
 

  1. In a pot, soak the oats in hot water for 10 minutes. In the meantime, mash half the banana in another bowl, add the tea powder and whisk with half of the plant milk to combine.
  2. Add the mixture to the pot and cook your porridge on medium heat until it almost reaches your desired consistency. If necessary, add the other half of the plant milk. Right before the end, add a pinch of salt and, optionally, add the protein powder with a bit more plant milk.
  3. Transfer the porridge to a bowl, slice the other banana half, and add it as a topping together with the cherries and dark chocolate.

  • Amount depends on desired consistency
  • I recommend using a sweet, fruit-flavoured instant tea powder, but if you don’t have any, sub this one for a tablespoon of any sweetener.
